Overview

The Cloud Computing Ontario Graduate Certificate provides you with the knowledge, skills and practices to become an integral part of cloud development and delivery in a variety of industrial settings. Utilizing a case methodology approach, students are exposed to everyday business challenges in order to develop experience in areas such as containerization, virtualization, data storage and security, and automation.

Six courses in the first semester are designed to provide foundational knowledge and skills in cloud computing to students who may have a wide range of backgrounds. In the second semester, courses offer more advanced topics such as cloud solution architecture, cloud security, automation, big data and DevOps in cloud computing.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will have demonstrated the ability to apply cloud computing principles, methodology and techniques to design and implement enterprise level applications hosted in virtual platforms in effective, secure and resilient infrastructure.

Work Placement

In the final semester, learners participate in a capstone industry project supervised by one of Humber’s industrial partners. Additionally, through a range of capstone showcasing events and employer engagement workshops, learners will have a chance to showcase their portfolios and capstone project to employers.

Learners have access to job search assistance, including a course on developing career goals, resumes, cover letters and a LinkedIn profile, preparing for interviews, and developing practical strategies to find career-related employment. Students can access job leads in Humber’s online job board.

Career opportunities

Cloud computing is everywhere and it is experiencing tremendous growth. Graduates of this program will be able to work in all types of cloud environments – public, private and hybrid clouds, and in all sectors of industry including cloud service providers, government, banking, commerce, enterprise, telecommunications, as well as small- and medium-size industries.

Graduates of the program will have the ability to:

  • design and deploy new cloud-computing architecture and systems
  • recommend optimal strategies to migrate legacy systems into the cloud environment
  • design and implement applications that support web services, databases, automation and security processes
  • develop test methods to analyze the effectiveness of enterprise cloud solutions to provide recommendations for improvement

Some specific career options include, but are not limited to cloud solution architect, cloud security architect, cloud solution consultant, software architect, software engineer, development operations engineer, cloud engineer, data engineer, cloud system engineer and cloud system administrator.

The graduates of this program will also be able to take cloud-computing certifications offered by various vendors and organizations such as AWS, Microsoft and Google.
