Overview
The mission of the Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) program is to provide students with the theoretical, practical and technical skills that reflect the profession of interior design. Through a comprehensive curriculum delivered by an interdisciplinary faculty, this program will prepare students to apply an integrated approach to interior design solutions for the built environment and its occupants and will prepare students for the demand to meet technological changes and currency relating to sustainability, universal design, and health and safety.
This unique co-op program is technically driven and provides professional training in the development of creative design solutions for interior spaces (residential, corporate/commercial, retail, institutional, healthcare, hospitality/entertainment, exposition) through project-based learning. Interior design has evolved to be as much science as art. Designing and creating sustainable interiors; managing interior design projects; and working in a team of professionals that includes architects, engineers and contractors; all require solid technical education.
The program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and graduates meet the education requirements to become a Registered Interior Designer. Graduates of advanced diploma programs in interior design can apply to transfer credits and pursue the Bachelor of Interior Design degree.
