Overview
Humber’s Bachelor of Commerce – Finance degree program offers comprehensive knowledge of both business and finance. Our program starts with a foundation of business studies in areas such as organizational behaviour, law, economics, finance and accounting, marketing, and operations management. Specialization courses will focus on theories, methods and techniques in various aspects of finance including analysis, planning and risk management.
Humber’s project-based curriculum, designed by industry experts, helps you develop the skills to move from idea to execution, all while learning core business concepts and financial strategies. A senior-level project in your final year will give you experience in problem-solving, evaluating strengths and limitations, and making appropriate decisions in a real-world, team-based environment.
Work Placement
The Humber Bachelor of Commerce – Finance program requires that you complete 14 weeks/ 420 hours of paid work in the summer between your sixth and seventh semesters. This gives you the hands-on, real-world experience that employers value. Your placement will give you the opportunity to explore the field you’d like to work in when you graduate. We will work with employers and our industry partners to help you identify opportunities to pursue.

CFA Institute University Affiliation Program
The Bachelor of Commerce – Finance program has been accepted into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. This status is granted to institutions whose degree program(s) incorporate at least 70% of the CFA Program Level 1 Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK), which provides students with a solid grounding in the CBOK and positions them well to sit for the CFA Level 1 exam.
Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP™) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP™)
The Bachelor of Commerce Finance Degree program has been designated a Core Curriculum provider by FP Canada™ (www.fpcanada.ca). Upon successfully completing this degree, graduates will meet the technical curriculum eligibility criteria required to write the QAFP™ examination and/or the CFP™ examination. These are the examinations required to become a Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP™) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP™). These exams need to be written within four years following degree completion. Designations will also require completion of Professional Ethics and Professional Education Programs through FP Canada™ and one-to-three years of qualifying experience, depending on the designation. The Bachelor of Commerce Finance Degree curriculum has been updated to meet the new FP Canada™ exam requirements that will be in place starting with the June 2020 examinations.
