Overview
Human Resources involves developing policies, procedures and programs to ensure an organization has an adequate number of people with the right knowledge, skills and abilities to achieve its objectives. When HR is aligned with an organization’s strategic goals and objectives, it becomes a strategic partner in the organization’s management, ensuring the best pool of talent to pioneer, compete and be at the top of its field.
Centennial College’s unique approach incorporates current trends in human resources, the affirmation of diversity and human rights and the promotion of positive union and management relations.
You will develop expertise in all major areas of human resources, such as:
- Human Resource Planning
- Staffing
- Recruitment and Selection
- Training and Development
- Compensation
- Employee and Labour Relations
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Management Accounting
- Human Resource Management Systems
The program emphasizes the ability to analyze and interpret financial and accounting information for decision-making purposes. Legal issues are covered from a proactive, rather than compliance, perspective. Finally, using integrated human resource systems software and computer skills to manage information and support decision-making is taught.
This unique Business School program will offer you the opportunity to acquire three designations:
- CHRP™ designation from the Human Resources Professionals Association
- CIM™ designation from the Canadian Institute of Management
- PCP™ designation from the Canadian Payroll Association
Co-op Option
The co-op option will allow you to gain hands-on experience while you complete two co-op work terms as an employee in the field. This experience not only allows you to put classroom learning into practice but will also provide valuable contacts for your future career.
To participate in this co-op option, you must complete an application process in the second semester. If academically qualified, you may be admitted to the co-op program.
When you graduate, your diploma will highlight the co-op credential.
