Overview
With job market information showing an increased demand for technical expertise in food science technology across various industries, the Food Science Technology program will prepare you with the latest information and skills for success.
You will learn to integrate and apply microbiology, chemistry, engineering, biology, and nutrition during your interactive courses. Use this knowledge to preserve, process, package, and distribute foods that are healthy, affordable, desirable, and safe to eat.
The resulting skill set will open the doors to food science careers in quality control/assurance, laboratory analysis, product development, and food safety. The well-rounded preparation also ensures you are confident in leadership roles that can advance your career.
Accreditation
This program has met the national educational standards of Canada’s engineering technology and applied science profession and has received national program accreditation from Technology Accreditation Canada (TAC).
Co-op Option
The co-op option will allow you to gain hands-on experience while you complete three co-op work terms as an employee in the field. This experience not only allows you to put classroom learning into practice but will also provide valuable contacts for your future career.
To participate in this co-op option, you must complete an application process in the second semester. If academically qualified, you may be admitted to the co-op program.
When you graduate, your diploma will highlight the co-op credential.
