Overview
With co-op opportunities, case studies, and connected faculty, Sheridan’s Business Administration – Finance program gives you the practical experience you need to succeed in business finance.
Learn the fundamentals of business finance
At Sheridan, you’ll gain the essential finance skills needed to succeed in today’s business world. You’ll work with computer software that’s currently used in the industry and cover key finance topics and practices. You’ll study financial analysis and management, personal financial planning, credit planning, taxation, investments and more. You can also learn to develop financial plans for clients.
Get advanced experience in our innovative finance courses
Advance your knowledge with practical courses such as Business Cases and Applied Business Management. These courses use hands-on lessons and projects to help you gain experience with real-world scenarios. You’ll take part in investment portfolio games, case studies of actual corporate financials and collaborative assignments to help you put everything you’ve learned in your studies to work.
Gain work experience with finance co-op opportunities
Students enter this program in either the Co-op or non-Co-op program. Continuation in the Co-op program is conditional on maintaining the established minimum required academic standard. The program-specific academic standard required for participation in Co-op can be found here: Academic Standards for Co-op and Internship. If there are seats available, students in the non-Co-op program may have the opportunity to apply to the Co-op program at the end of the first year. This would be a competitive process with limited seats available.
Learn from experienced faculty who work in finance
Sheridan faculty think outside the textbook and bring real-world expertise into every lesson. Our business professors are not only seasoned educators, but also experienced professionals who are respected in the business community. This combination has led to high respect for our Business Administration – Finance program and greater co-op and employment opportunities for our students and graduates.
Take courses you need to become a certified financial planner
Our three-year Business Administration – Finance program gives you access to electives that, when successfully completed with a minimum grade of 60%, can make you eligible to work towards your Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
Discover finance scholarship opportunities
Finance students who demonstrate superior academic performance may be eligible for financial awards in addition to other Sheridan scholarships and bursaries.
Additional program and finance certification costs
In addition to your tuition, you should be prepared to pay for textbooks, supplies and professional certification if you wish to pursue industry licensing courses such as:
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
- Conduct and Practices Handbook Course (CPH)
- Life Insurance Qualification Programs (LLQP)
Additional fees can range from $200–$1,200 per course and can be changed any time by those external institutions.
