Learn fundamental and advanced welding techniques

In the first year of your welding diploma, you’ll get hands-on training in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and flux-cored arc welding (FCAW). In second year, you’ll learn advanced techniques including flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead welding. This diploma prepares you for structural and pipe/pressure vessel applications.

Graduate ready for a welding apprenticeship

When you graduate, you’ll have the skills and knowledge necessary to begin an apprenticeship. You’ll be able to apprentice as a welder, boilermaker, pipefitter, steamfitter, millwright or sheet-metal mechanic. Our two-year Welding and Fabrication Technician diploma provides opportunities for you to earn certifications with the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB). You may challenge structural steel tests in four welding processes to obtain up to nine licences. Sheridan welding students take their tests on campus at a discounted testing rate.
