Studying abroad is an exciting experience. It’s an important step that causes concern for parents and students. There are many challenges and it’s not easy to be away from home, speaking a new language, living in a different culture while trying to make new friends.
We promise that CLLC staff knows what this feels like, most of them have had the first-hand experience. They understand students' feelings and go out of their way to make students feel secure, comfortable, and at home.
CLLC is the only ESL school in Canada with campuses in three world-class cities; Toronto, Ottawa, and Halifax.
HALIFAX
CLLC Halifax enjoys all the luxuries of CLLC Ottawa and CLLC Toronto, but with the added distinction of bordering the Atlantic Ocean. CLLC Halifax is nestled in downtown Halifax and is only minutes from the famous waterfront boardwalk, numerous restaurants, and cafes, as well as vibrant student life.
The campus itself is 20,000 square feet and holds 18 large classrooms. Halifax is home to three nationally ranked universities and colleges and is ideal for students looking to pursue higher education.

ACADEMICS
CLLC’s customized curriculum is unique. It has been designed to maximize the academic experience.
General English
CLLC’s General English Program has six levels. From Introductory to Advanced. The program develops skills in five areas: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, and Critical Thinking. Students are able to progress through the levels at their own pace with flexible scheduling options.
University Pathway
CLLC’s University Pathway Program (UPP) focuses on time management, note-taking, exam preparation, academic presentations, and essay writing. Students can complete UPP in any CLLC city and continue onto one of CLLC’s partner universities or colleges without writing an English language proficiency exam.
Business English
CLLC’s Business English course uses real business case studies. Each case study covers a specialized area of business practice. Students work to develop solutions to specific problems, prepare presentations, learn business vocabulary, and write reports, emails, and letters setting out conclusions.
IELTS/TOEFL
CLLC’s part-time IELTS exam preparation course is designed to give students the skills needed to pass their exams. CLLC teachers focus on the IELTS modules to make sure students know what to expect when taking an IELTS exam. A minimum of Level 4 General English is needed to enrol in the IELTS class.
ACCOMMODATIONS
Option 1 - Homestay
CLLC guarantees student satisfaction by offering the following:
- Our own internally managed homestay program offers the same price in Ottawa and Halifax.
- Over 500 diverse, well-qualified, and experienced homestay families.
- Problem resolution to all problems within 48 hours through CLLC’s Total Quality Management System(TQM) with careful consideration of student needs. We change families free of charge.
- All financial homestay matters are handled internally in order to encourage a positive relationship between students and their homestay families.
- A Quality Assurance Rating System (QARS) that ensures a smart match.
FEES
- Application fee (one-time) - CA$200
- Homestay fee (3 meals / day) - CA$225/week*
Option 2 - Residence
As an alternative to the homestay, students have the option of living in residence style accommodations.
Residences include:
- single and twin rooms
- common areas
- shared washrooms
- 24-hour security
Residences are offered in all CLLC cities, however, due to limits on availability, this option must be booked at least two months in advance.
